What are Transmute Crystals Used For

  • Use 50 Transmute Crystals to change the assigned Traits of any of your Weapons or Armor in a process called Transmute. This process requires that you have researched the Trait you want to imbue your weapon with.
  • You must go to a Transmute Station to achieve it. The Transmute station is located within the Clockwork City and requires the Clockwork City DLC to access
  • Other players cannot change the traits on your gear: it will become bound to the player who transmutes it.
  • In the Set Collections, you can see all Item Sets in ESO (except crafted), where they drop, and even their combat bonuses. Once an Item Set piece has been collected, Transmute Stations will allow you to reconstruct an infinite number of copies of that piece by spending Transmute Crystals.
  • See the Transmutation page for further details

This gear should be avaible for all players, because mostly difficult for a base game player to compete against full game players or ESO Plus gamers.

for a base game player as myself, it is hard for me not to see this as a way to intentionally fill my inv with crap so that i buy ESO plus...

Really need to indicate that transmuted gear is Account Bound, not Character Bound. Your third bullet point says they "become bound to the player who transmutes it", which implies Character Bound. Also, your Trait pages all say Traits cannot be changed, which is a bit out of date.

Do pvp and make some good plays kill lots of enemy players, you’ll get rewarded with them faster than dungeons

Keep your transmute crystals as long as you can and don't use them without planning a specific build. I had nodes in my inventory that I couldn't use because I was full at 200. Now I am struggling to find a single transmute crystal.

I'm a fresh 160 on ps4, I've got 196 of these crystals already, I've ran a total of 3 vet dungeons, I ran normal undaunted dailies for about a week. I got them from pvp dailies in cropsford, Burma, and chendinhal areas. Every quest gives a box on those areas with a random chance for pvp gear and normally a transmute ornate for u to open and the green ones give 1 crystal each.

Bind to account. They are put in your currency tab, and can be used by any character. Other points still stand though. Ouside of a couple guarenteed mways each day, they seem to be pretty rare.

It's better than nothing, can't complain. So when your doing content to farm your sets you might get the trait you desire might not but eventually you'll get the stones to change the trait.

So they made the crystals bind to character and made it so you can’t even bank them or pass them between your characters. So that means you have to farm them on the character with traits researched and move the gear you need changed around. Given the fact that these are a “rare” and random drop, you are going to spend countless hours yet still gathering st least 50(!) of these to change just a single trait. And they can only be obtained via vet level stuff and even then the drop rate is rare. You may even end up with the gear you wanted before you even have enough of these crystals to change a singular trait. :|
