Elemental Defender Information
This was added in Update 6 with the Champion System. It reduces Flame, Frost and Shock Damage dealt to you by [x]%. You can put 100 Champion Points into this passive ability for a maximum of 15%.
Effect
With each point invested, the reduction in the damage taken from " Flame, Frost and Shock" effects diminishes. That is to say, for the first 10 CP invested, you would gain a 2.9% reduction in damage taken. However, the next 10 CP spent (making a total of 20 CP spent), will earn you only 2.56% more Effectiveness. This is 0.34% less than the reduction gained in the first 10 CP.
As such, spending just 37 CP into Elemental Defender will already gain you a 9.09% reduction in the damage taken from " Flame, Frost and Shock" effects. This means you will have gained 60% of the Maximum reduction possible (which is 15.0%) by spending just 37 out of the total of 100 CP. Therefore, beyond this point, the reduction in damage received per 1 CP used is very small and not as worthwhile.
Notes
- Elemental Defender is preferred over Spell Shield as it is better under most circumstances. Spell shield is only really useful if you are starved of spell resistance.
- Elemental Defender will be applied on top of your existing spell resistance (with or without the additional resist from Spell Shield), up to the maximum of 50% mitigation.
- Spell Shield on the other hand, is only applied if the incoming damage is magicka based.
